In Germany, construction permits were issued for 319,200 apartments between January and November 2019, according to the Federal Statistical Office. This figure remains high compared to previous years. Only in 2016, with over 340,000 apartments approved, was the number of approved apartments granted for the same period recorded.

From January to November 2019, building permits were issued for approximately 275,200 apartments in newly constructed residential buildings. This represents an increase of 0.2 percent, or 600 apartments, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of building permits for single-family homes rose by 1.5 percent, while the number of permits for two-family homes and multi-family homes each increased by 0.9 percent.
