How a search request can help you find the right property

Finding a suitable property isn't always easy for our clients. Navigating the vast array of search engines can quickly become overwhelming. Moreover, the tedious search consumes valuable time – time that would be better spent looking forward to a new home. To make things easier for our clients in this situation, we support them with a search mandate.

M. Hubert (45) also took advantage of this free offer to find a suitable property for his parents. In the interview, he tells us how it came about.

Mr. Hubert, why did you commission us to search for you?

I spent a lot of time researching properties beforehand. Either the houses didn't fit the budget, weren't wheelchair accessible, or were too far away, meaning I wouldn't have been able to care for my parents regularly. My parents aren't in the best of health anymore. Walking is becoming increasingly difficult, and their current house isn't suitable for their needs as they age. Unfortunately, they aren't very tech-savvy, so I helped them with their property search.

How did you place the search order?

I placed the search request online. At the same time, I arranged a consultation appointment for my parents to clarify what should happen to their old property. The main questions were: Should the property remain in the family or be sold? What is the best solution?

How did the search about us proceed?

It took a while for the first offers to come through. But in the meantime, my parents had their consultation appointment and were able to consider what should happen to their old home. When we received the offers, we quickly felt vindicated – searching through a local real estate agent had been the right decision. All the properties matched my parents' wishes. The budget was also met. We let the agent know which properties we wanted to view. The appointments were arranged quickly. We weren't shortlisted for every property. But in those cases, the agent handled the price negotiations with the sellers very well – including all the subsequent notarization steps. After the long search, I was happy that my parents had finally found an age-appropriate apartment close to me and my family.

How was the property financed?

My parents decided to sell their old property. This meant they didn't have to take out a loan, which they had initially planned to do because they wanted the house to remain in the family. However, my parents' financial freedom was ultimately more important to me, so we persuaded them to accept the real estate agent's sensible suggestion.
