When the old home is too small, but the family is growing

It's not just in big cities that finding a larger property becomes a problem when a new baby is on the way. As wonderful and exciting as it is when the family grows, the apartment unfortunately doesn't grow with it. Searching for a new home also takes time and energy that you need for other things. So, what's the best approach?

Out of the cramped rented or owned apartment in the city center, into a spacious detached house on the outskirts, or ideally, in the leafy suburbs. That's the dream of many expectant parents. With an intensive search on the usual online portals and/or a flyer in the local supermarket of their preferred new home, it should be doable, one might initially think. But it quickly becomes clear: "We can't do it."

Get professional help

Before you throw in the towel, start planning to install a second ceiling, and even buy wood for bunk beds – finding a new property for your family is doable. And it is, with the help of someone who takes care of all the steps for you.

Someone who can sell your old property profitably and also looks for a new one. Someone who knows how to determine the right price, who is familiar with the local area and can distinguish genuine buyers from casual viewers. And, with a bit of luck, who might even have your dream property – or perhaps know which colleague to recommend. But who exactly is this professional jack-of-all-trades?

Better to sell with a real estate agent than to sink into chaos

The solution: a local professional real estate agent will be your savior. They'll remain calm while things get hectic for you. They'll handle the marketing with all the necessary documents and an attractive listing, finding serious prospective buyers who are a good fit for your property and, after successful negotiations, are willing to pay their asking price. If someone tries to haggle the price down, your agent will immediately be on high alert.

Having time for what really matters

Since you know your property is in good hands (for sale), you can prepare everything more calmly, get a stroller, changing table, etc., and still have time to keep an eye out for a new home and view potential properties. If you get stuck, you know who to ask.
