Tips for "lazy" gardeners – How to keep the garden a place to relax

No pain, no gain – unfortunately, this also applies to the garden.

But not everyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful season in their own garden has the desire, time, or even the physical condition to chase after weeds. We'll give you a few tips on how to do it with less effort.

Easy-care plants

Buy perennial plants that don't need division, such as peonies, daylilies, and cranesbill. Pay attention to the right location and soil conditions; this will save you time, money, and frustration. Hardy and easy-care options include helenium, valerian, gentian, and phlox.

Elegant flowers don't have to be complicated: Roses with the ADR label, planted as shrubs or ground cover, are particularly robust and don't require pruning. Other plants that thrive without pruning include witch hazel, flowering quince, Japanese maple, and flowering dogwood.

No more annoying weeding

A layer of straw mulch not only smothers the annoying weeds, but also saves on frequent watering and irrigation in summer: The soil is protected from too much sunlight and evaporation is reduced.

If mowing the lawn isn't one of your favorite activities after work or on weekends, you should buy high-quality seed. The lawn will then require significantly less maintenance.

Don't like standing on a ladder with hedge trimmers? A gabion (a wire mesh filled with stones) can be planted with any kind of greenery.

We wish you a relaxing time in the garden!
