Subsidies for solar heating systems have been significantly increased since April 1st

Government subsidies for heat generation using solar energy were increased by up to 100 percent .

However, given the limited funding available, the German Solar Association recommends a swift renovation.

The minimum subsidy for solar thermal systems used for heating support has been increased from €1,500 to €2,000 . Operators of larger systems with a solar collector area of more than 14 square meters can also look forward to an increase in the subsidy per square meter of collector area from €90 to €140 .

Additional bonuses are now available for combining a new solar thermal system with heating system upgrades. Numerous measures related to the installation of a new solar thermal system, as well as improvements to previously subsidized systems, are now also eligible for funding. Eligible measures include, among others, replacing radiators with low-temperature radiators, installing a high-efficiency circulation pump, necessary structural modifications to the boiler room, and the removal and disposal of old heating systems.

The installation of solar thermal systems on existing buildings, solely for hot water production, will also be subsidized in the future. The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) will provide subsidies of €50 per square meter of collector area, with a minimum of €500.
