More than half of all Germans have moved for a job. This is the finding of a study conducted last year by the online job platform Stepstone, which surveyed around 24,000 professionals and managers in Germany. 25 percent have moved once for work. 14 percent of respondents have moved twice for a job. And 16 percent have moved more than twice because of a new job.
Most didn't just move to the nearest city. For 34 percent of those surveyed, their new home was between 301 and 1,000 kilometers away from their old one. 28 percent moved between 101 and 300 kilometers for a new job. For 13 percent, their new home was up to 100 kilometers away. 16 percent were willing to move a maximum of 50 kilometers for a new job. However, 8 percent were prepared to find a home more than 1,000 kilometers away for a new job.
