Real estate weather: The market is stirring – but not everywhere
While prices are rising again in some regions, they continue their downward trend elsewhere. Buyer interest is noticeably increasing – not least because of the threat of interest rate hikes. However, developments vary considerably from region to region. A closer look is now more worthwhile than ever.
After turbulent years, the German real estate market is showing signs of improvement in many places. However, the trend varies considerably from region to region: In metropolitan areas like Munich and Hamburg, prices are already rising again, while rural regions – particularly in the south – are still struggling with declining property values. Older buildings with poor energy efficiency are losing their appeal. In contrast, the north is showing surprisingly strong growth: In parts of Lower Saxony, prices are rising noticeably.
Although mortgage rates have risen slightly recently, interest in buying is increasing again – many want to take advantage of the current conditions before both prices and interest rates climb further.
